An Old Irish Blessing

irish-headlands-489888-gaAn old Irish blessing came hurriedly upon the wind
Irish writings are meant to be sung
Celebration of the dead inheriting lungs
Bag pipes heard out through the yard caressing lost souls

The way to Northern Ireland we practiced old rituals
Outlawed by the Catholics our mouths carried banned rhyming
While the fire danced with ghost
We drank and cried within celebration

Ritual of bones, an old Irish blessing
Migrating to the land across the sea old spirits navigating
Grandmothers with shotguns politely rest
An old Irish blessing came hurriedly upon the wind
